Citizens Advice Shoreham-by-Sea moves into new home at the redeveloped Shoreham Centre
Charity looks forward to welcoming clients to its much-improved new premises
Staff and volunteers at Citizens Advice Shoreham-by-Sea will close the doors to their temporary home at the Adur Civic Centre for the last time on Wednesday 27 January to move into their brand new, purpose-built premises at the newly redeveloped Shoreham Centre on Pond Road.
The charity was previously based in the same location on Pond Road for 33 years, until December 2013, when it was moved out as part of a long-term plan by Adur District Council to redevelop the Shoreham Centre. The team is looking forward to welcoming clients back to Pond Road, and moreover to new premises, to give them advice on welfare benefits, debt, housing and more.
Citizens Advice Shoreham reopens at the Shoreham Centre on Monday 1st February at 11am and then 10.30-4 for the rest of the week. Normal opening hours of 9.30-4 resume on Monday 8 February. The Shoreham Centre is only a few minutes’ walk from both the town centre and the rail station, is easily reached as well as being modern, comfortable and fully accessible to wheelchair users.
Julie Martin, Service Director of Central and South Sussex Citizens Advice (which Citizens Advice Shoreham falls under), says of the move:
‘Citizens Advice services across West Sussex are more needed than ever, with welfare changes continuing to have an effect on the lives of local people. Universal Credit will bring its own challenges, and we continue to give advice to ill and disabled clients who are struggling due to the maladministration and confusion around the Employment Support Allowance benefit. Debt is a mounting problem among local people, and can affect housing as well as having very negative effects on health and wellbeing.
As such, we are delighted to welcome clients to such a modern new centre in Shoreham. It can take a lot of courage for clients to make the first step to seek out our services, and we hope that by offering them such a comfortable, pleasant environment, we can encourage them to talk to us before they reach crisis point. We’re also very pleased that our highly valued volunteers and staff have such modern facilities and premises to work from.
While remaining an independent charity, we thank Adur District Council for their generosity and flexibility, which has enabled the move to happen.’

27-29 January 2016: Centre closed for relocation (please see www.cassca.org.uk for alternative local sources of CAB advice during this time).
Monday 1 February 2016 : Shoreham-by-Sea Advice Centre opens at the Shoreham Centre.
