Volunteer Receptionist/Meet and Greet
About the Role
We’re looking for friendly and approachable volunteers to be the welcoming face of Citizens Advice in West Sussex.
As a Receptionist/Meet and Greet Volunteer, you’ll often be the first person clients speak to when they visit one of our offices. You’ll help people feel comfortable, understand what support they need, and ensure they are directed to the right service. Your calm, professional and compassionate approach will help create a positive experience for everyone who contacts us.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys meeting people, providing excellent customer service and helping others access the support they need.
What you’ll do
- Welcome clients and other visitors to our service in a friendly and professional manner
- Listen to clients and identify the type of help or support they require
- Highlight any urgent or emergency issues and ensure these are brought to the attention of a supervisor
- Direct clients to relevant information, leaflets, self-help resources and online guidance
- Support clients to access and navigate our website and digital services where appropriate
- Set up new client records and accurately record information on our database
- Book appointments and manage client enquiries
- Provide administrative support to the Advice Supervisor and wider team
- Help maintain a welcoming, organised and professional reception environment
What we’re looking for
You don’t need previous experience, full training and support will be provided. We’re looking for people who:
- Enjoy helping people and working with the public
- Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Are friendly, patient and approachable
- Can remain calm and professional when dealing with people who may be anxious or distressed
- Are comfortable using computers and learning new systems
- Have good attention to detail and organisation skills
- Understand the importance of confidentiality
- Can work as part of a team
Training
Full and ongoing training is provided by our Training team and first class training portals. We will work with you to identify what your needs are. Training can include customer service skills and how to use our database.
